May 3rd, 2002 - Seniors Zone II Report
Osoyoos Golf and Country Club

On May 3rd, 2002, the first Seniors Tournament for this season was held at the Osoyoos Golf & Country Club.

The weather was not up to Okanagan standards. While it didn't rain, the cool breeze required warm clothes. When the sun did come out it was quite balmy....Old man winter does not want to give up it seems.

George Barnes of Kelowna won the overall LOW GROSS with a gross score of 72. The runner up for the field was Hugh McNeill with a 73. The overall LOW NET winner was Clare Taylor with a net score of 62 followed by Ian Munn with a score of 64.

In the first flight the LOW GROSS winner was John Parsons with a 74, followed by Lorne Nickle (75), Dennis Davis (76), Ron Thompson (77), Tom Martin won the LOW NET portion with a 65, while Henry McDaniel was second (68), Harvey Dietrich was third (69), and Ted Trimble was fourth (69).

In the second flight Dennis Bissonnette won the LOW GROSS with a 76, while Allan Woodhead took second (80), third place went to Don Dale (80) and George Barr was fourth with a (81). Taking the LOW NET was Ian Hay with a 66. Followed by Dan Ferguson (67), Mervin Parasiuk (68), Len Swift (69).

In the third flight Bert Condi won LOW GROSS shooting 82. John Unger was second with (83), Russel Krake third place with ((86) and fourth was Ray Redekopp (86). Vic Wilson pocketed first LOW NET (66), while Gordon James took second (68), followed by Jim Turner (71), and George Barrow (72).

Clive Lewis was the LOW GROSS winner in the fourth flight with 85. Second place went to Ray Williams (87), third place to Morris DeFeyter (88), Ken Carlson was fouth at (89). Ron Gale grabbed the LOW NET prize with a 69. followed by Doug Morris (69), Paul Fillion (69), John Turiff (70).

The Tournament Committee and other Volunteers did a terrific job on the organization of this tourney. The food was superb and the new club house must surely be the envy of other courses. Aministration: Randy Laroche (G/M), Sharon Geese, Course Superintendant: Mike Harrison, Ken Bruneski, Food/Beverage: Kirby McFadden, Kevin Waldal, Registration: Shirley James, Pat Philpott, Sheilagh Watrich, Don Hopkins, Pat Kowalczyk, Doreen Bromley, Gerry Ford, Mary Ford, Ladies Club Captain: Maxine Day, Volunteer Members: Margret Dietrich, Beryl Senger, Marie Middler, Francis Wowchuk, Lynne Blount, Darlene Fillion, Flo Remple, Doris McEwan, Mary Anne Bennett, Betty Massie, Nancy Truscott, Dave Schofield, Denny Vandewiele, Jack Becker, Sevi Cia, Rennie Leonard. Senior Men's Captain: Gil Summerell.
