Small Fry Golf Clinics - EagleQuest @ Coyote Creek June 2nd, 2001- 10:00am Clinic
Children and parents arrived at approximately 9:30am. All were greeted with a warm smile and a FREE "Small Fry T-shirt". Parents held the umbrella's, kid sized clubs were
disbursed, and coffee circulated the covered (thank goodness) driving range. The kids broke into 3 groups and stayed with approximately 2 or 3
BC PGA professionals throughout their 2 hr clinic. The kids learned the basics of chipping, driving (or whacking as a few others expressed it!) and putting.
It was a very personal experience as it was about 2 to 3 kids per adult which I'm sure made the learning process a much more enjoyable one.
The teachers were fantastic, they could instantly relate and talk to, not down to the children. They encouraged sharing, interaction with the other kids, and
above all stressed that the game of golf is a fun sport when learned the correct way. A few lesson tips the kids had practiced may just apply
across the board to all levels and age groups. All the parents got quite a chuckle out the kids standing on their right foot, then left foot, then with their eyes
closed. Amazingly the kids actually performed a little bit better. Consider standing on one foot forces your mind to concentrate on balance first, then swinging
the golf club. Enjoy the photos and if you are interested in remaining golf clinics please visit the BCPGA web site.
