July 31st, 2000 - Kelowna Springs Golf & Country Club
The latest Senior golf tournament in Zone II was held at the Kelowna Springs Golf Club in Kelowna, on
July, 31st, this past few days. This course is a short one but the difficulty lies in the many sand traps, water
holes and undulating greens. The course was in fantastic shape and considering the extreme hot weather we
have been having, all credit is due to the grounds keeping crew. Another force to contend with is that the
flight path for all incoming, and, for that matter, outgoing aircraft from the Kelowna airport are directly over
head in many cases.
This is the first course on the Seniors tour that we had to play from the blue tee's instead of the white's.
Even so, the yardage was 6,163 yards over the whole course. When you have sand, water, undulating
green's, the famous Okanagan Sun beating down on you....You have a definite challenge.
