On Friday the 26th of May, the Zone II Championship tournament was held at the Penticton Golf Club. This is the fourth tournament for the seniors in the current season.

Once again, weather played a role in the play of the game. This short course was soft in spots due to intermittent rain and wind and when the sun did come out the course dried out and became quite firm. Not good for high lofted shots to the greens!

This tournament is the biggest one of the year and is the major fund raiser for the Seniors Associatiion. Two "shotgun" starts were used to accomodate all the entrants, (9.00am & 1.00pm) This tournament also decides who will make up our Zone II team to challenge others in the BC Seniors Zone Championship. The team is made up from different age groups and the lowest gross scores. They will compete against other teams from all Zones in BC at the Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford. (August 22nd to the 24th).

My partners in this tournament were, George Taylor, (84) from Summerland Golf Club, George Sabo (91) from Fairview Mountain Golf Club, and Jim Johnson (89) from the Salmon Arm Golf Club. I was Fortuneate to score an anxious (80) which resulted in a second low net in the third flight (67). The prize was a $50.00 gift certificate to be used in the pro shop. It's amazing how "little" you can buy for 50 bucks in a golf shop these days!
