September 8th, 2000 - Fairview Mountain Golf course
The millenium 2000 Senior Men's Open was held at the Fairview Mountain Golf Course in Oliver
and was sponsored by Burgart Golf Enterprises. This tournament is the second to last approved
tournament for the members of the Okanagan Seniors Golf Tour. The last Seniors tournament will be
held at the Spallumcheen Golf Course in Vernon on Thursday September, 14th, 2k.
The Fairview Mountain Golf Course is with out a doubt the hidden jewel of the Valley. This
Mountain Course located above the town of Oliver, is a veritable oasis among the orchards,
vineyards and desert like hills that surround it. Known as the "Jewel of the South" Fairview does
more than live up to it's name. With fairways framed by stately pines and rough laden with sagebrush,
it's a course that offers a challenge at every turn. This championship course offers the player an
unmatched experience. The course played a benign 6,167 yards from the white tee's for us Seniors.
The constant elevation changes, true breaking greens and superb conditioning of the fairways required
strategic shot placement. I can never get enough of this great golf course and look forward to this
tournament each year.

Thank you all for a job well done! My partners for the day were Bill Lee (97) Kamloops Golf Club, John Unger (92) Summerland Golf Club, and Graham Ferguson (93) from Fairview Mountain. We had some interesting moments... Bill Lee's 7 shots on a par 3 hole....Grahams roaming tee shots and John's taking 5 putts to finish the par four 18th hole. ( a snowman in Sept.!) Not to worry guy's ...there's better days ahead! Once again, the last Seniors tournament for the year will be at Spallumcheen Golf Club on Thursday, September 14th.
