Nk Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course

Nk Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course

Owned and operated by the Osoyoos Indian Band, Nk Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course expanded from a relaxed nine-hole course to a championship model in 2001. Its local field designers listened to the symmetry of the elevated Land to the north of the original nine and responded with a daring reply – adding 13 expansion holes and renovating 5 existing ones.

The result is a striking blend of natural contrasts divided into the desert-dominated Canyon Nine, which delights in throwing the elements at an unwary golfer, and the more laid-back Grove Nine whose verdant fairways and greens welcome a long drive and a satisfying putt.

There is no one word that describes Nk Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course in Oliver. Centuries before the course was created the Okanagan people who lived here had formed an affinity with the canyons, the game, the wind, and the water that nurtured their lives and added dimension to this region of the valley. They referred to the area as “Nk’Mip” (Inkameep) whose English meaning roughly translates as “flat bottom land at the mouth of the creek or river”. However the translation lacks the imagery of their language. The Okanagan saw land in terms of pictures that went deeper than words and when you see the Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course you will understand why.

Osoyoos Golf Club (Desert Gold)

Osoyoos Golf Club (Desert Gold)

The finest option for a round of golf in the heart of the South Okanagan Valley, we invite you to experience Canada's only desert-style golf course, the Osoyoos Golf Club complete with plush conditioning, warm hospitality and two 18 hole championship courses. The Desert Gold and the Park Meadows golf courses.

In the Heart of Canada's Wine Country the Osoyoos Golf Club brings together ideal desert climate and picturesque golf with two full-length courses boasting the longest season in the Okanagan. The Park Meadows course is a pleasurable “resort” course that is walker friendly amidst a park-like setting, while the Desert Gold course brings a new and unique links-style golf experience. Perched high above the Town of Osoyoos and sculpted in the environs of a desert mountainside, golfers will be rewarded by precision shot making and captivated by views from the Osoyoos Club Club and its surrounding orchards, vineyards, and Lake Osoyoos below.

Osoyoos Golf Club is a public course that offers membership opportunities. A stopover on your next golf outing and we are confident the Osoyoos Golf Club will become your golf destination of choice. Finally, don't forget to set aside some time to stop in at the Greenside Bar & Grill and say hello.

"Osoyoos Golf Club, set on the hillside overlooking the town, lake, vineyards and orchards
delivers some of the best vistas you're likely to find on a Canadian course. Carved out of the rugged, desert brush hillside, two 18-hole championship courses await; Desert Gold, significantly more difficult than the other, Park Meadows. Cultivated out of a "desert bench", the 6,500 yard par 71 Desert Gold course cuts along a camber for the first few holes as it slides along the side of the hill. It then climbs up and around the mountain, gradually exposing you to arresting views, which spark the camera into action, with each sight slam-dunking the previous, up to about the 15th hole."

A lot of golf courses claim to offer something for “novice and low-handicap players alike”…that’s like a good/bad golf course or a hot/cold day…makes no sense! At the Osoyoos Golf Club we truly do have something for all skill levels because we offer not one but two full size, 18-hole courses each with its own distinctly different experience.

The Osoyoos Golf Club was designed by individuals who believed it was possible to build a unique and interesting golf course that incorporated the natural beauty and defining features of the slopes of the desert mountainside.

The Park Meadows course is a pleasurable “resort” course that is walker friendly amidst a park-like setting, combining the simple enjoyment of a memorable golf experience with visually appealing asthetics that takes in the surrounding mountains, the lush environment and the spectacular view of the valley below. Spend a day on the Park Meadows and you will truly enjoy a day spent in the lap of nature.
