Falcon Ridge Gc
A must play on your next Mesquite golf vacation. Located only 6 minutes north of I-15 this true desert layout boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes and incredible golf holes you have ever seen. Don't let the short-ish design fool you (just over 6500 yards from the tips) into thinking that you'll have this one licked from the first tee with just a driver and wedge. In fact there is much more demand for accuracy, shot placement and course management skills than over sheer length. The course is full of wonderful elevation changes, numerous water hazards and high mesa views but also includes very tight landing areas on some holes, rolling, quick greens and tricky winds on some days. The par-5 downhill 12th hole is a gem of the entire region. A solid par on this hole will make your day.
Oasis Canyons Golf Course
One of two championship golf courses on-site in the heart of Mesquite and only 5 minutes north of I-15. It's a rugged design that compliments the character and charm of its natural setting. Large fairways and Bermuda greens make the course friendly for all skill levels but elevation drops, desert surroundings and gusty winds can play havoc with your score. Some of the holes played host to the Golf Channels' Big Break Mesquite a few years ago. The 18th is a rare par-3 that presents another hawk's view from the tee box, this one some 100 feet above the green. This hole plays down into a canyon with a waterfall spilling from the left side of the green to a pond that backs it with another stream on the right. Anything short or long is trouble. Depending on the wind, club selection can be anything from wedge to 5-iron.
Oasis Golf Club - Palmer Course
One of two, 36-hole championship golf courses on-site located in the heart of Mesquite and only 5 minutes north of I-15. This Arnold Palmer design has a 4.5 star Golf Digest ranking with its mature fairways that wind dramatically through towering red rock canyons and desert bluffs to reach immaculate greens. Many tee boxes sit up 100 feet above the fairway and much of the fairway-framing rock is so rugged and steep that few houses and no roads distract from this experience. The par-4, dogleg 3rd hole is rated the toughest on the course with a very small landing area off the elevated tee to a small lake-fronted green. The 7th hole is a 162-yard par 3 that's a local favourite that plays over a canyon with no bailout area. Any tee shot off this green could be a large number.
